Winter’s Daybreak

This dress was made as a custom size 16 and was Designed, Pattern Drafted, Textile Dyed, Constructed, and Modeled by Madison Redler.

Using the process of ice dying, Madison used 10 yards of natural silk chiffon to create this Lolita fashion inspired dress. Challenged to make a “Womenswear” look, Madison wished to challenge the concept of gender, modeling and making it for themself. The inspiration for this look was the feeling of a first snow at dawn. After dying the white fabric with an ice dying technique, an aurora borealis look appeared on the textile. Using the layers of silk chiffon and a base layer of ice dyed cotton, movement creates a shifting and evolving look on the dress.
